Updates to All of Us initial credits, expirations updated to 365 days

  • Updated

In February 2025, the All of Us Research Program announced expiration dates to the All of Us initial credits that researchers receive after registering for the Researcher Workbench. These credits now expire 365 days from the date that a researcher obtains access to the Researcher Workbench.

How is this different from the update in February 2025?

Credits now expire 365 days after you sign the Data User Code of Conduct.

When do my credits expire?

If you obtained access on or before February 18, 2025, your 365-day expiration date is February 18, 2026.

If you obtained access after February 18, 2025, your expiration dates will vary depending on when you sign the Data User Code of Conduct.

When will I be notified about my credit expiring?

Yes, you will receive multiple notifications prior to your expiration dates.

  • 30 days prior to your 365-day expiration: If you are the workspace creator, you will receive an automatic email notifying you that your credits will expire soon.
  • 30 days prior to your 365-day expiration: You will see a banner in your workspace on the Researcher Workbench that notifies you that the workspace credits are expiring.
  • Date of your 365-day expiration: You will see a banner in your workspace on the Researcher Workbench that notifies you that the workspace credits are expired.

What happens when initial credits expire or when I run out of initial credits?

If all of your initial credits are exhausted or expire, you will not be able to launch analysis environments and any active environments will be deleted. Data and storage resources (e.g., workspace buckets and persistent disks) will also be deleted.

To avoid interruptions to your work, we recommend setting up a Google Billing account early.

How can I set up Google Billing accounts or learn more about credits?

The “Credits and Billing” section of the User Support Hub provides additional information about credits, including instructions for setting up a Google Billing account.
