Note: Reviewing participants with the cohort review function is optional. Cohort review allows you to confirm your inclusion and exclusion criteria are accurate from the Cohort Builder.
With the cohort review, you can create a review set of your cohort that includes a snapshot of the participant-level data to verify that the criteria you chose produced the result you expected.
For example, you built a cohort of participants that have two mentions of the condition ‘recurrent major depression’ between 30 and 180 days. In cohort review, you can verify that your participants have the condition within your specified date range.
To create a review set
- Click on “Create review sets.”
- Click “.”
- Name your review set and enter the number of participants you would like to review.
- Click “Create set.”
To review the set
You can see your review set displayed with the selected number of participants in a row format.

- Click on a participant to review an individual participant row.
- Review the available data within the participant's record.

To add individual annotations
Within your review set, you can mark individual records and make annotations while you review.
- Within a participant record, click “.”

- Information about the participant, including ID, date of birth, gender, race, ethnicity, and deceased status, will appear in the pop-up.
- You can mark individual participants as “Excluded,” “Included,” or “Needs Further Review.”
To add review-wide annotations
Within your review set, you can add review-wide annotations while you review.
- Click “.”
- Select the type of annotation you would like to make: free text, dropdown list, date, true/false checkbox, or numeric field.
- Click “Create” to leave your annotation in your review set.
