Beginning February 18, 2025, All of Us initial credits provided to registered researchers by the All of Us Research Program will expire 120 days after a researcher signs the Data User Code of Conduct. Researchers may extend the expiration to 365 days after the date that a researcher obtained access.
When do my credits expire?
Credits now expire 120 days after you sign the Data User Code of Conduct. You may extend the expiration period to 365 days from the date that you signed the Data User Code of Conduct.
If you obtained access on or before February 18, 2025, your expiration dates include the following:
- 120-day expiration: June 18, 2025
- 365-day expiration: February 18, 2026
If you obtain access after February 18, 2025, your expiration dates will vary depending on when you sign the Data User Code of Conduct.
Will I be notified about my credits expiring?
Yes, you will receive multiple notifications prior to your expiration dates.
- Two weeks prior to your 120-day expiration: If you are the workspace creator, you will receive an automatic email notifying you that your credits will expire soon.
- Two weeks prior to your 120-day expiration: You will see a banner in your workspace on the Researcher Workbench that notifies you that the workspace credits are expiring.
- Date of your 120-day expiration: You will see a banner in your workspace on the Researcher Workbench that notifies you that the workspace credits are expired and that you are eligible for an extension.
- If extension requested, date of your 365-day expiration: You will see a banner in your workspace on the Researcher Workbench that notifies you that the workspace credits are expired and that you are not eligible for an extension.
How do I extend the 120-day expiration date?
You may extend the 120-day expiration date once from the All of Us Researcher Workbench. To request an extension, researchers will visit your Researcher Workbench profile page.
On your profile page, you will see a “Request credit extension” button under your initial credits balance if you are eligible to extend your expiration date from 120 days to 365 days.
Can a researcher request an extension more than once?
No, you can only extend your credit expiration once. After that, the credits will expire 365 days after the date that you signed the Data User Code of Conduct.
What happens if initial credits expire or I run out of initial credits?
If all of your initial credits are exhausted or expire, all active cloud environments will be deleted and any unsaved results from actively running analyses may be lost. Files saved to the workspace bucket and persistent disk will remain. To avoid interruptions to your work, you are encouraged to set up a Google Billing account.
How can I set up Google Billing accounts or learn more about credits?
The “Credits and Billing” section of the User Support Hub provides additional information about credits, including instructions for setting up a Google Billing account.
