Using All of Us Initial Credits

  • Updated

To get started using All of Us credits, you simply need to begin your research. The $300 credits will automatically be applied to computation costs incurred for your created workspace.

Credit usage within a workspace is sourced from the workspace creator’s credit bank, meaning if a researcher creates a workspace and adds other researchers as collaborators on it, all compute costs incurred for that collaborators work within the workspace will be charged through the workspace creator. This cannot be changed.

Researchers can check how much of the initial credit balance has been spent at any time by visiting their Researcher Workbench profile page.

To check your credit balance

  1. Log in to the Researcher Workbench.

  2. Click the menu icon (Three light blue lines stacked horizontally).

The menu icon is in the top left corner of the Researcher Workbench landing page after you log in. The menu icon is three light blue lines stacked horizontally. After you click the menu icon, a navigation pane appears that includes clickable links with your name, home, your workspaces, featured workspaces, User Support Hub, and contact us.

  3. Click the down arrow (White arrow down).

The down arrow is a white arrow down and sits to the right of your name in the navigation panel. After you click the down arrow, additional options appear that are clickable including profile, data access requirements, cloud environments (BETA), and sign out.

  4. Click "Profile."

Profile is located directly below your name. After you click profile, your profile page appears on the screen. This page includes profile information including your first and last name, your institution, your role, your initial credits balance, and your data access tier.

  5. View the amount of All of Us initial credits used and remaining.
Note: The "All of Us initial credits used:" is the amount of money you have spent in your workspace, and the "Remaining All of Us initial credits:" is the amount of money you have remaining in your account.

The initial credits balance section is located in the top right of your profile page. Your All of Us initial credits used and the remaining all of us initial credits are displayed with the corresponding dollar amount of credits remaining or used.

Once you exhaust your initial credits, you need to set up a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) billing account to pay for additional computational costs. Your spend will no longer be visible via your profile page, but instead, will be managed within your own Google billing account console. Read about setting up a GCP billing account.
